Shame and Suffering
Jesus prepares His disciples for His shameful suffering and death, challenging them—and us—not only to suffer for Him but also to endure shame with Him, as true greatness in His kingdom is found in serving others. While the disciples seek status and power, blind Bartimaeus simply asks for restoration and follows Jesus, revealing that what we desire from God reveals what we value most.
